So, I go to the RAC, and tell them I have an idea for a ride about nothing. They say "what's the ride about?", I say "nothing". I think I may have something here.
That's not really how it went, but it could have been....if the universe were slightly more askew.
Since my last true post (Sat 13th June), I have been convinced by Alison that, to truely make a statement and put myself in a position a little closer to those less fortunate, I should camp every night. Give up some of those often overlooked luxuries, and go back to nature. Or something like that. It didn't strike me to begin with. I'm not really into camping, roughing it etc. I like a decent bed, a decent nights sleep, and the idea of lugging even more weight throughout the journey wasn't exactly a turn on.
It gets to 4:30pm on Monday (15th June) and I finally agree. I'll go buy a tent, pack my sleeping bag, and then at least I have the option. An hour later I'm in possession of a bright orange item that has more in common with a StarWars A-Wing type fighter, than temporary accomodation.
5:30am (Tuesday). I'm up and and ready to head for Manchester to pickup the folks. I've had 2 hours sleep, but did manage to give the tent a dry run before succumbing to sleep. First impressions weren't exactly spectacular, and I'm sure that it took me well over half an hour just to roll and pack it back into its bag.
From Manchester its down the M6 & M5 to Devon. I am due to start tomorrow, but the closer I get to the South West, and the more I recognise a great opportunity with fantastic weather, the more I want to get a bit of a start this afternoon.
The rest of the events shall be relayed on a typical diary like day to day basis. I'm not sure if I can back date the posts so they coincide with the actual events. We will see.
